Garden Friends

Snow White and 7 of her friends (concrete garden 'gnomes') need to be repainted --?
Anyone know what the best type of paint is to repaint my little crew in the garden? I acquired these during the purchase of a house, and they are horribly faded and chipped. I'd like to restore life to the crew rather then dispose of them, but I don't have a clue what type of paint you use on concrete to allow it to weather the elements!
I'd also like to know how to prep them. I'm figuring a pressure washer and soap for starters, but is there more to do?
Thanks!
A few years ago, my husband and I "stole" this shabby looking gnome from our friends front yard. We cleaned it up, painted it, and gave it back to them as a Christmas present. They loved it but had no idea it was the same gnome- they didn't even realize that it was missing!!
We used regular acyrilic paint. Because it is such a thick paint, it covers very well, leaving a very true and bright color. I think we did like 3 coats, just to make sure everything was covered. But they paint dries quickly, so we did all the coats in the same day. To seal it, we got this outdoor resin spray and applied a few coats of that too.
They moved away, so we haven't seen the gnome. But when we asked they said it was still looking great after 3 or 4 years.
You can also use spray paint on larger areas. I think now they also make specific outdoor acyrilics. I would stay away from traditional oil paints- they take too long to dry and on anything but paper the color isn't as rich.
THe pressure washer and soap should work on cleaning them up. Just make sure all the dirt and soap are gone and it is fully dry before you paint. Depending on how bad the chipping is, you may want to use a paint remover too. You can paint over the chipping- but you risk your new paint job not lasting as long. (I painted another garden decor that was chipping a few years ago. One side still doesn't look too bad..the other side is starting to chip just as bad as it was before I painted it)
I'm not an expert on this, just letting you know what I did. Your local garden center might have or know better paints or ideas.
Good Luck!!! And post some pics when your done!!!
